On the day Gordon Brown officially declared the General Election will take place on May 6th, our candidate (David Henry) for the newly created constituency of Salford and Eccles launches his campaign blog.

David will be standing with electoral support from the Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (T.U.S.C) under the banner of “Hazel Must Go” – the socialist alternative to the Blairite, war-warmongering, bank-bailing New Labour candidate Hazel Blears.

Keep reading both this site as well as David’s blog for all the latest news and articles as we support him on the campaign trail…

Baroness Gale: ...at knifepoint. Clare had no way of knowing this. Had she had that information, it could have saved her life. I think we would all agree that this is a horrifying story. My right honourable friend Hazel Blears, MP for Salford, has advocated for this change of law and worked on this amendment, as Michael Brown is a constituent of hers. We nee […]
  • Oral Answers to Questions — Attorney-General: Abu Qatada (7 Feb 2012) February 7, 2012
Hazel Blears: The Home Secretary said quite rightly that she wishes to be in a position to deport Abu Qatada, but I am afraid that, much as we all might wish that, if it does not happen in three months’ time, the Home Secretary will face a serious choice. The bail conditions might well be relaxed, so the only choice she will have under current legislat […]

What practical steps are the Government tak […]

  • Oral Answers to Questions — Home Department: Topical Questions (6 Feb 2012) February 6, 2012
Hazel Blears: Today’s report from the Select Committee on Home Affairs on the roots of violent radicalisation highlights the twin threats from Islamist fundamentalism and the far right. Much of the most successful work has been done by the Hope Not Hate campaign, which empowers communities -the moderate majority-to isolate those extremists. Such commun […]
